EVALUATING AND REFLECTION
Initially, I have an interest in ambiguous form of creative advertisement, which is indirect but it is very interesting. I believe ambiguous advertisement has infinite potential. This is my initial interest. So at the beginning of the MA course, I am concentrated on ambiguity in contemporary art. I was trying to research some characteristics of ambiguity in art. I found that it is difficult to make a clear definition of ambiguity in art, because ambiguity means a little bit confused.
My research into different forms and specific situation creates the sense of confusion, from which I have developed a series of experiments related to ambiguity in contemporary art. Viewers could connect certain visible terminal points in a satisfying way by themselves, which is a potential direction to present ambiguity.These experiments gave me more clear direction for my further research. Gradually, I am interested in visual language in a loose narrative instead of any specific form of ambiguity. In content,the juxtaposition of some details and fragments, which could be more powerful to present my idea.I am quite enjoy creative collage with my own intuition and also like to explore the underpinned dialogue between visual language and reality in a loose narrative.Unexpectedly, this kind of research brings extra surprise for my commercial photography and video work. I have to admit that my research of ambiguity in art, which opened up a new door of commercial way.
Throughout my MA course, I have been influenced by many artworks and I also have learnt various professional skills. For me, the most important skills are critical thinking and reflective journal, which makes me more logical and mature. When I look at an artwork, “what”, “how” and “why” are indispensable elements in my mind. Meanwhile, I have gradually realized that any detail could be very significant in art. In addition, It is also essential to learn art theory, because it not only widens my horizons in art but also it makes my understanding more deep and comprehensive. However, these are invisible value for my further direction.
After MA course, I will continue to keep enthusiasm in art, which includes art theory and art practice. I believe that it could makes me have more creative idea on further way. On the other hand, probably I will establish my personal commercial studio. I hope to put more art elements into commercial project, which could be ambiguous. Fashion photography, commercial advertisement, short topical documentary,wedding photography and portrait photography have many artistic possibilities. If I can balance the relationship between commercial function and creative point of view in art, which probably is a suitable way for my further development.
Unquestionable, MA course makes me growing a lot. My external growth and internal change are from art and personal experience during two years MA course. Life is like an adventure, not only do we have an uncontrollable destiny, but also we have got unpredictability. Sometimes, if you believe everything has two sides and everything is going to be better, it might mean that all of definitions by yourself. That is why I think ambiguity is quite attractive in art.
